Brantford Montessori - Celebrating Earth Day

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd every year, all around the world. In our preschool the children are made aware about recycling and littering. We believe it is vital to introduce an awareness of the topic in schools at the earliest possible opportunity, thus empowering the next generation to be part of a better future for our planet. On Earth Day, the class goes out and pick up litter on the property.

The kids were all excited to make a difference and wanted to do it before they played outside. We found all kinds of things and filled 2 bags of trash. They were amazed at how much they found. As we walked back toward the school playground to play, a few students noticed more trash and pointed it out. That trash had been there all along, but cleaning up made them more aware of their surroundings.
