Our Lady
Queen
of Peace Montessori Bilingual School is located
at 128 Nelson Street (corner of Clarence Street), Brantford, Ontario, Canada.
Our fully self-contained unit include bright, modern and spacious open
concept
classroom, convenient washroom facilities, and fully
equipped
kitchen. We are also connected to fenced outdoor playground.
The school
takes pride in a quality early childhood education program, opened to
children
2½ to 5 years of age which is referred to as Casa in our
program.
We believe the early years of education form a strong solid foundation
for academic achievement in the future. Academic understanding in
preparation
for elementary school is provided through Montessori methods and
materials.
Each child is respected as an individual: therefore, teaching methods,
approaches and instructions are tailored to the child's individual
learning
needs.
The school
is licensed with the Ministry of Community and Social Services. We also
have subsidized program with the City of Brantford. Our
premises are regularly inspected by the Health Department. Our school
is
in compliance with the Building Code and the Fire Code.
Our PROGRAM runs for
10 months with extended hours. After school SCHEDULED PROGRAM for kids
6 to 12 years old also available. Summer Daycare will also be available
during summer months. Feel free to contact us for more information
about enrollment in our programs.
OUR HISTORY
Brantford
Montessori Bilingual Center was established in March 1994. Its
beginnings
were as home based school. In February 1997, the Center moved to a new
and larger location, at the Dunsdon Plaza. Enrollment increased and
more
space was needed in September 1998. In response, an elementary
classroom
was set up at Grandview Public School. Then to accommodate further
growth,
BMBC took possession of three classrooms at the Mohawk College, in July
1999.
Over
the years, the profile of BMBC has changed. BMBC has become a private
Catholic
school that is also opened to all other denominations as long as the
parents
of the latter accept our philosophy. This explains the name that
appears
now on our letterhead.
In July
2003, the elementary program was eliminated. The College needed more
space
for their classes. We were therefore, forced to downsize our school to
a capacity of sixteen students. We were able to run our program until
the
end of June 2006.
In 2006, our school moved from Mohawk College - Brantford Campus to a more
convenient
location at 128 Nelson Street (corner of Clarence Street), and we are
running
under the same management.
OUR GOALS
The goals
of Our Lady Queen of Peace Montessori Bilingual School are to provide
children
ages 2½ through age 5 a safe, caring, nurturing and academically
stimulating environment.
It is preferable for children to enter the
Montessori
program between the ages 2½ and 3½ years. In this
environment
every child can develop a positive self-image, self-confidence and
fundamental
academic understanding.
Over
the years, we have noticed in our students who have completed the
3-Year
Casa Program that they precociously read fluently and have acquired a
strong
and solid foundation in mathematical concepts.
